Occult Intrasacral Meningocele

Abstract

|
We have reported a rare case of occult intrasacral meningocele in a 54-year-old male with complaints of low back pain, radiating leg pain and urinary retention.
Plain X-ray films of the sacrum revealed a shadow of dilatation of the sacral canal and the pantopaque myelogram showed communication between the spinal subarachnoid cul-de-sac and a large cavity within the sacrum.
This intercommunication was interrupted by packing with a piece of muscle to eliminate further pressure effect on the cavity.. The symptoms have been completely relieved by surgery.
